Biography
Charlotte Joachim

Charlotte Joachim (aka Charlotte Leslie) was born in the Bronx, New York in 1927. Early on in her life, she developed a love of and interest in both the visual arts and in dance, attending the prestigious High school of Music and Art. Charlotte then studied modern dance under the tutelage of Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham.

She was later cast by the Rodgers and Hammerstein Company in their original touring production of Annie Get Your Gun. Charlotte's dancing career also included work in the Second Avenue Jewish Theatre and a national and world tour with the Chandra Kaly Dancers , which included performances in London's Café de Paris and at the Tropicana in Havana.

Her diverse theatrical, cultural and artistic activities and associations have influenced Charlotte's sense of color and movement in her paintings and prints, and have allowed her to develop her own voice as a distinctive and remarkable artist.

Her recent exhibition, Paintings and Works on Paper marks a return to her career as a visual artist and includes newly commisioned works as well as selected paintings and prints from earlier periods.
